Literary Gossip

The new annual, to be published under
the title of ‘The Venture,’ will make its
appearance in November with contributions
by Mr. Thomas Hardy, Mrs. Meynell, Mr.
A. E. Housman, Mr. Gilbert Chesterton,
Mr. Stephen Phillips, Dr. Garnett, Mr.
Laurence Binyon, and Mr. Francis Thomp-
son. The literary editors are Mr. W.
Somerset Maugham and Mr. Laurence Housman;
and Mr. John Baillie is the art
editor. ‘The Venture’ seems already to
belie its name by its promise of success.
