This lithograph is in portrait orientation. The image shows three figures standing naked in profile on the shore of an ocean. The image is bordered by a single line. In the bottom right corner the artist’s initials are lightly scrawled: “CS.” [caps]. The central person in the centre is an adult female, standing at almost double the height of the two child figures in front and behind of her body and on either side of her. The beach that they stand on takes up a very small portion of the page, cutting diagonally up to the right and only taking up about a tenth of the page as a whole. A few small rocks and stones appear in the sand. The white wave caps from the ocean are touching the figures’ toes. The wavy water takes up the entirety of the background, all the way to the top edge of the page with only a slight glimpse of skyline beyond the water in the top right corner. The female figure is drawn hunched forward with her arms extended down and out. Her left arm is holding the boy’s arm in front of her and her right arm is covered by her body but seems to be holding the hand of the child behind and to the right of her. She has a muscular form and long dark hair. Her head is positioned to look straight down at the boy in front of her. The boy in front of her, on the left side of the page, is light-haired and mid-step. His left leg is planted in the sand while his right is extended straight out and forward His left arm is swinging up and bent at the elbow. His right arm is out of view and he looks to be holding hands with the woman. The child behind the woman and to the right is visible only by their body and the back of their head: their face is covered by the woman’s body. The child is holding onto the woman’s right arm and leaning backwards, bent at the waist with feet planted in front of them. Long hair falls down the child’s back to the waist. The hair seems to be wet.
