PAG1-burnejones-nymph-jpg

The halftone reproduction of Edward Burne Jones’ 1881 painting of a mythical sea nymph leaping across a tumultuous ocean surface is framed and centred on the page in portrait orientation. The sea nymph, or mermaid, is facing the viewer. Her upper body is of a human female. Her lower body is of a fish. Her hair is loose and waves through the air, taking up much of the upper left corner of the image. Her head is tilted to the left. Her left arm is raised up and she holds one fish above her head. The right arm rests at her side where she grips a second fish. She has a ridge of fins skirting her lower torso where her fish form begins. Her tail swings out behind her to the left of the image.
