GSV3-craig-masque

The hand-coloured poster or play program is centered on the page, framed with a thick black border. The image is comprised of three figures standing side-by-side. The central figure is a tall Morris dancer, who appears mid-dance, jumping on one foot. He wears a green checked suit, a false nose, a white hat pulled low over his face, and a long tasseled vest with golden bells at the end of the tassels. In his raised hands he holds a small puppet with a green hat and a stick with four gold bells. On either side of the dancer are two identical androgynous figures. The figures appear in ¾ profile, facing toward the central figure. Rendered in minimal black outline, the figures wear wide-brimmed hats, a strand of beads, long pale robes, and black slippers. Beneath the image, the following text is printed: “A MASQUE / THE HARVEST HOME / DESIGNED AND ARRANGED BY MARTIN / SHAW AND EDWARD GORDON CRAIG.”
