Carman Portrait

This is a portrait drawing of Bliss Carman drawn from life. Carman’s figure is left facing in a sitting position on a Windsor chair. His left leg is crossed over his right as he rests his left arm on his top leg while writing with his right hand. He is facing his head towards a book that he is writing in and which lies on a small single leg desk pulled closely to his body. He has a straight pipe (perhaps bulldog style) in his mouth. He is dressed in a suit jacket, pants with a cuffed hem, a collared shirt, and wide patterned necktie. No vest is visible. He is wearing dark socks and plain toe oxford style dress shoes. He has short dark hair with short sideburns and no facial hair.
