The man wears a green laurel wreath around his head and a loin cloth across his hips; he holds his arms across his naked chest. The mass of figures below him are crowded together; only their upturned faces are visible. They are coloured in the same grey-brown shade as the rock the man stands atop. The background is a shadowed deep red sky. The artist’s monogram is in the top left corner of the frame.
