This full-colour headpiece illustration is framed by a thick black rectangular border, in landscape orientation. At left, a dark-skinned beggar in brown rags, faces right, extending an arm out to Prince Siddartha, on the right. The Prince, turned to face the beggar, has light brown skin, wears a white turban, white robes, a necklace of coloured jewels, and golden hoop earrings. The two figures, depicted waist-up, stand on a dirt road before green trees, with purple mountains and a yellow sky behind. The artist’s monogram appears in the lower-left corner.
